Because of its mix of gaming and traditional media features, I love the X90J as a package. The picture quality on this television is something no other manufacturer has matched. Color performance is great right out of the box (once you switch over to Cinema profile, of course), and Sony’s processing is unbeatable.
Normally, I’d be more critical of the X90J for its shortcomings, but the picture quality is so damn good, it mostly makes up for them. In addition to having stutter issues, no cable management, and no variable refresh rate, this TV is pretty pricey. Whether you’re looking for picture quality, HDMI 2.1 features, or don’t want OLED for any number of reasons, this TV has a lot to offer.
Much of what makes this TV great is found in the X900H, which is cheaper and more likely to go on sale because of its age. As for the X90J, it just depends how much you like the amenities you get with this condo compared to other Sony televisions.
The X90J is a great package because it offers high-quality features for both games and traditional media. The picture quality on this TV is something no other manufacturer can match.
The color performance is outstanding out of the box (once you switch to the Cinema profile, of course) and Sony’s processing is unbeatable. The picture quality is so darn good.
There’s a new streaming service from Sony called BRAVIA Core this year, which lets you stream movies from Sony Pictures and some Imax movies in “UHD BD equivalent quality with 80 Mbps streaming.” If you’re a stickler for image quality and like the selection, it might be worth buying the movies there rather than a competing service like Vudu, Apple or Amazon, but I’d go with another service because it’s more compatible. It was nice that my X90J sample unlocked five free movies.
